Following their recent team-building tour to Belfast last week where they faced very tough opposition against Cooke RFC, the Kinsale / Muskerry (KinKerry) U16 Girls got back to winning ways with a very impressive performance over Cobh Pirates in Cobh today. With a strong breeze on the day, kicking was going to be difficult!
Cobh got off to a strong start with a brace of tries in the first period, but the KinKerry girls responded quickly with 2 tries of their own leaving it all square at the end of the first period.
During the second period, KinKerry outscored Cobh by 3 tries (1 conversion) to a single converted try from Cobh going into the final period in a strong position.
KinKerry finished off the game outscoring Cobh by 2 tries (1 conversion) to a single try in the final period.
The KinKerry girls showed power and pace throughout the game with 2 new girls (Alison O’Regan & Oliva Warren) making their debuts, contributing at crucial times to secure the win, welcome girls and well done!
Hannah Murphy scored a hat-trick of tries with 1 try apiece for Alice Kate O'Connell, Naomi O'Riordan, Lucy Kelleher and Aine Dinneen. Alice Kate O'Connell also converted 2 tries in very windy conditions.
Following a great day in beautiful sunshine, there is lots to look forward to as the KinKerry girls enter the U16 league for the first time in Oct.
