It was a night of significant developments at the recent AGM, watched by a record turnout (source: Jim Good).
Outgoing Chairman Paul McCarthy highlighted the Seniors O’Neill cup win and near promotion, our 16s Pan-Munster Plate win (a first for an underage team of the club) and the Seconds Junior 3 cup triumph, as well as our 40 year celebration night and recent local schools blitz, as significant highlights for the club.
Outgoing President John Walsh thanked the great spirit of volunteerism at the club, and how it’s at the heart of great clubs. He thanked Lorraine Sullivan and the Sevens Committee for their incredible work in running a highly enjoyable Sevens event. He also spoke of his pride in representing the club during its milestone 40th year.
The club would like to thank Paul, John and outgoing Treasurer Wayne Falvey for the incredible commitment they’ve shown to club.
Des Walsh has now been elected as Chairman of the Club, with Paul Kingston elected as President, Jeremy Coughlan as Secretary, Allen Murphy is welcomed as the newly elected Treasurer and Paul McSherry continues as PRO. New Chair Des spoke about carrying on the hard work of the previous committee, and the honour of taking on the role.
Director of Rugby Denis Collins spoke of the work being done across all ages to develop the skills of boys and girls, as well as our older teams. Eric Dolan will now take on a new role as Youth Development Officer and Pauline O’Reagan will step into a newly expanded role of Minis and Women’s Development Officer.
This is an exciting time for the club as member numbers continue to grow, we compete strongly across the ages and have significant representation on Munster squads. Minis and girls development is central to the clubs plans over the coming years.
The club would like to thank ALL volunteers across our many teams; the parents, partners and members who have freely given their time organise, officiate and coordinate teams and games. You are the heartbeat of our club.
